Honoring your story, supporting your change.

From understanding your past to shaping your future.

My Approach to Treatment

My approach to therapy varies based on the individual needs of each and every client. However, my overall approach to treatment is always person-centered at its core. I strongly believe that clients are the experts on themselves, and given a safe and nonjudgmental environment (and just a little bit of guidance), they are often able to find the answers/solutions they are seeking themselves. That being said, I also utilize several evidence-based approaches in order to provide clients with the skills and resources that they need to be set up for success (see below for more details).

I aim to provide a safe and warm space for you to explore your feelings, questions, and concerns. I do this by being genuine and honest, while also respecting and accepting you as you are, without judgment. My goal is to create a meaningful connection, in which you always feel seen and understood. That being said, I understand that trust comes with time, and will always make efforts to accommodate your preferred pace of treatment.

In treatment, I will help you identify the goals that are most important to you and will always respect your right to make your own decisions. I will also help you identify and appreciate your own unique strengths, as sometimes it is hard to see this in ourselves. I will additionally provide psychoeducation on your diagnosis/symptoms, as I strongly believe, knowledge is power. I will also provide you with a large variety of resources and skills, so that you can select the ones that best meet your individual needs. Finally, I will seek feedback about your treatment on a regular basis, so that we can track your progress and continue to ensure that your needs are being appropriately met throughout the treatment process.

Therapy is about connection, trust, and mutual respect. My hope is that in our work together, you’ll feel supported, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change.

More About Me

Therapeutic Approaches I Utilize:

·       Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): DBT teaches practical research-based skills to help clients better manage overwhelming emotions, tolerate stress, and improve their relationships with others.

·       Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): ACT is a mindfulness-based approach that helps individuals accept difficult emotions, clarify personal values, and take committed actions toward a more meaningful life.

·       Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT helps clients identify, challenge, and replace unhelpful thought patterns that may be contributing to their emotional distress. It also teaches valuable life skills such as communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.

·       Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): EMDR is an evidence-based approach that activates the brain’s natural healing mechanisms to gently process painful memories and traumatic experiences that may feel “stuck,” reducing the emotional charge they tend to carry. See here to learn more about this approach.

·       Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS): IFS views each person as being made up of many parts, each with its own role, emotions, and needs. When we encounter painful experiences, these various parts may become wounded or may even try to protect us. This approach invites you to build a relationship with your internal world — allowing all your parts to be heard, understood, and ultimately healed.

·       The Gottman Method (GM): GM helps couples strengthen their friendship, improve communication, more effectively navigate conflict, and rebuild trust and intimacy utilizing research backed practical skills.

·       Attachment Based Therapy (ABT): ABT focuses on understanding how your early relationships shape the way you connect with others today. Together, we work to create a sense of safety, trust, and emotional connection—helping you build healthier, more secure relationships with yourself and others.

·       Motivational Interviewing (MI): MI helps clients who may be feeling ambivalent about change  find their own motivation for growth by exploring what matters most to them and empowering them to make small changes that feel aligned with what they want, at their own pace.

·       Solution Focused Therapy (SFBT): SFBT helps clients recognize their preexisting strengths and resources, allowing them to build on what’s already working well for them.
