Clinical Supervision

The time you spend as an associate in training is a wonderful opportunity for learning, developing new skills, and finding your own unique style as a therapist! It’s a time to ask questions, make mistakes, and try out new things. That being said, we are working in a complicated and difficult field, one in which our most effective and reliable tool is ourselves. Consequently, my goal as a clinical supervisor is to help you grow both as a person and as a clinician. This may seem scary, but it is crucial as it is very difficult to provide quality care for others if we ourselves are unable to be genuine and model what we preach.

As a person, you will…

  • Find your “Why.” Why are you in this field and what is going to keep you passionate and dedicated despite the hard work?

  • Explore and get comfortable being your genuine self

  • Process countertransference issues

  • Identify and build confidence in your individual strengths

  • Implement self-care and prevent burnout

As a clinician, you will…

  • Develop your clinical and practical skills (e.g. diagnosing, writing assessments, creating treatment plans, documenting notes, and maintaining productivity)

  • Learn to navigate crisis issues (e.g. self/other harm, abuse reporting, and domestic violence)

  • Review difficult cases and explore potential interventions that may be of assistance

  • Experiment with different theories and find your own style as a therapist

  • Prepare for your licensing exam

Clinical Consultation

The field of metal health is a grand and ever growing discipline. One of the most exciting and beautiful things about this field is that, as clinicians, we will never truly stop learning. New discoveries are being made every single day and we will frequently encounter clients with unique perspectives and experiences we have never considered before. Working in the field of mental health is truly an adventure! That being said, sometimes we need a little extra support and resources in order to navigate the various challenges that this great adventure throws our way, and there is no shame in that!

In consultation you will have a safe place to…

  • Discuss difficult cases and explore potential interventions that may be of assistance

  • Process countertransference issues.

  • Establish an effective work/life balance in order to prevent burn out

  • Refresh your memory on particular theories or interventions you would like to experiment with

  • Continue to explore and expand upon your unique style as a therapist
